The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are hot on the trail of some of the most wanted criminals in Canada. The High River KFC Bandits.

Last Friday night the RCMP responded to a break-in that occurred in High River. At about 12:30 a.m., an the alarm went off at the local Kentucky Fried Chicken, but by the time the RCMP responded the culprits had made off with several buckets of day-old chicken.

The investigation is ongoing.

Little Lil

A pet chicken called Little Lil that belongs to children at a school in Gloucester England has laid an egg which measures 10cm long and 7cm wide. According to the Guinness Book Of World Records, the largest egg ever was laid by a Black Minorca hen in England in 1896 and weighed nearly 12oz. A normal egg would measure about 4.5cm by 7.5cm. The staff at the School have been unable to measure the weight of the egg because the eggs scale they have will not handle eggs that heavy.

Little Lil, is a six months old Columbian blacktailed cross. She began laying eggs last October. It is common for young hens to lay large eggs but 10cm is unusually large.

Film shows soldiers 'biting heads off chickens'

Footage of a British army survival exercise has angered animal lovers. It allegedly showed soldiers from the 2nd battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment biting the heads off chickens and then eating the chickens. The video was apparently filmed in Iraq, in late October.

An RSPCA spokesman said: ""It's a revolting way to treat any animal. This footage sends out the wrong message. A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "The incidents shown in the videos were part of an exercise in survival training. In addition to British troops, the exercise involved local forces, and the birds were prepared and eaten in accordance with local custom. The British Army does not condone needless cruelty to animals."

Charlie the Chicken

Just three short years ago Charlie the Chicken was abandoned in the middle of Kendrick. Charlie plays no favorites "she" goes from house to house sharing her charm. Often the chip trucks, the logging trucks, the grain trucks, especially the grain trucks need to come to a screeching halt for Charlie. She is no doubt partial to the grain trucks as they always leave a little wheat or barley for her to nibble on. This time of year the pickings are a little slim. Residents far and wide are on the lookout for Charlie when they go through Kendrick as she may be in the middle of the street or perhaps just waiting patiently on the curb for traffic to go by before she makes a mad dash for a few grains of wheat.

Prison Chicken Not To Good

Two former jail inmates were in a federal court in the U.S.A. Thursday, saying they were emotionally damaged after eating some chicken they bought at a prison store in Kentucky in 2005.

Christopher Butts Hank Butson and Cory Cochran say the frozen Banquet Crispy Chicken they bit into was not edible. Butts brought the alleged piece of chicken to court in a paper bag, but the judge would not let it be used as evidence in court.

"I bit into a soft pocket of I don't know what," Butts told reporters after the hearing. "It wasn't meat. It was a soft pocket of pus and grain and corn or something."

A lawyer for ConAgra Foods asked the judge to throw out the suit, saying the plaintiffs never sought treatment for illnesses. The Judge has taken the issue under advisement and has not yet issued a decision.

New year headless chicken horror

A chicken's head was posted through a letterbox and its headless body found on a car in West Sussex England while a second carcase was found on a garage roof.
Police said they were working with the RSPCA after the "horrific" discoveries in Rustington on New Year's Eve.

Additives used in chicken 'could make cancers grow'

A common additive used in bacon and ham could fuel the growth of cancers, research suggests. High doses of inorganic phosphate salts – which are used to enhance the texture and flavour of processed meats – increased the size of tumours in mice. The chemicals are also added to bread, cakes and cheeses. The research will increase concerns that additives used to boost food industry profits could be contributing to cancer rates.

"Chicken is murder"

Feathers are ruffled in Tisdale, Sask., where a man tossed a live chicken into a display of cooked fowl at a convenience store. "Chicken is murder," the stranger hollered before ducking out. The suspect jumped into a red pickup truck, possibly a Dodge, parked outside and drove away. But the bird-tossing didn't end there. A short time later, two live chickens were heaved through the back door of a gas station on the other side of Tisdale.
A small blue car was seen speeding away, but police have yet to pluck up any suspects.
RCMP say the chickens are ok.

Mariposa Meats Chicken Breast Recall

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall on pork chops and chicken breasts distributed around Ontario due to concerns the meat could be contaminated with listeria.

Old Style-brand Smoked Pork Loin Chops in 175-gram packages with a best-before date of Jan. 23 and 350-g packages of Old Style Thin Sliced Chicken Breasts with a best-before date of Jan. 16 are both subject to the recall.

The products, manufactured by Mariposa Meats of Mississauga, Ont., have not yet caused any illness

Police suspect 'fowl play' after one family was deprived of its Christmas dinner chickens and another lost prize birds.
Shouts were heard coming from a field in Lostwithiel as 27-year-old Caitlin Dean discovered to her horror that her family's rare breeding trio had been stolen from their allotment.

Havin A Bath At K.F.C.

Three employees of a Calif Kentucky Fried Chicken, have been suspended for bathing in a deep sink used to clean dishes. The prank was discovered after one of the young women posted photos on a social networking site of the trio posing and cavorting in the steaming water in their underwear and swim wear.

The photos were filed in a gallery called "KFC moments." Captions included "haha KFC showers!" and "haha we turned on the jets."

A manager of the fast-food restaurant said the three were reprimanded and suspended Tuesday. She said no manager was on duty when the photos were taken as the three had closed the restaurant for the night.

Aviagen Turkeys in Hot Water

Several workers at a turkey plant in West Virginia have been fired after they were caught on video punching, kicking and beating birds.

Aviagen Turkeys said the employees, including a supervisor, were fired around Thanksgiving.

Christmas Turkey

Most likely the turkey you eat at Christmas will be a hen. Females are slaughtered at about 15 pounds. Males (Toms) are allowed to get to 40 pounds and are used to produce deli meat.

The two turkeys shown here were two that we raised and slaughtered for Thanskgiving and Christmas dinners. In a dazzling display of originality that is what we called them - Thanksgiving and Christmas.

They had the free run of our 100 acre farm which completely freaked out my wife.

Football fans eat fewer wings in slow economy

Gridiron fans are eating fewer wings at sports bars and watering holes and chicken company Sanderson Farms Inc has noticed.

"Normally wing prices firm after Labor Day as football starts and fans begin moving into bars and water holes to eat Buffalo wings and watch their favorite teams. That did not happen this fall," Joe Sanderson, chief executive of the No. 4 U.S. chicken producer Sanderson Farms Inc, said Thursday.

Recall on Nestlé's "Lean Cuisine" chicken meals

The Department of Environmental Conservation is asking the public to check their freezers for three varieties of Nestlé's "Lean Cuisine" frozen chicken meals that may contain foreign material. One injury has been associated.

The following products are subject to recall:

• 9.5-ounce packages of "LEAN CUISINE PESTO CHICKEN WITH BOW TIE PASTA" brand frozen meals. Printed on each side of each package is a production code of "8280595912" as well as a use-by date of "Best Before MAY 2010."

• 10.5-ounce packages of "LEAN CUISINE CHICKEN MEDITERRANEAN" brand frozen meals. Printed on the side of each package is a production code of "8231595912" or "8241595912" as well as a use-by date of "Best before SEP 2010"; a production code of "8263595912," "8269595911" or "8274595912," as well as a use-by date of "Best before OCT 2010"; or, a production code of "8291595912" or "8301595912" as well as a use-by date of "Best before NOV 2010."

• 12.5-ounce packages of "LEAN CUISINE CHICKEN TUSCAN" brand frozen meals. Printed on the side of each package is a production code of "8234595911" and a use-by date of "Best before SEP 2009"; a production code of "8253595911" or "8269595912" as well as a use-by date of "Best before OCT 2009"; or, a production code of "8292595911" or "8296595911" as well as a use-by date of "Best before NOV 2009."
